Patrol Volunteers Empowered with Life-Saving First Aid Skills

Members of the Croydon Community School-Time Patrol are now equipped with life-saving first aid skills thanks to a recent training course delivered by StreetDoctors. This collaboration marks a significant step forward in enhancing the safety and well-being of our community.

StreetDoctors, a non-profit organisation dedicated to empowering young people affected by violence, delivered an emergency first aid training program to our volunteers. The course focused on equipping participants with essential skills to respond effectively to violent incidents and medical emergencies.

The training program covered three key areas:

  1. Bleeding Control: Participants learned how to recognise and respond to bleeding injuries, including applying pressure to wounds and calling for medical assistance.
  2. Consciousness Assessment: Volunteers were trained to assess and respond to individuals who have been knocked out, including administering CPR and placing them in the recovery position.
  3. Scenario Workshop: The training culminated in a scenario workshop where participants applied their newfound skills to real-life situations, further enhancing their confidence and readiness to act.

Impact and Empowerment: By empowering our volunteers with these crucial skills, we are better prepared to respond to emergencies and safeguard the well-being of our community members, particularly young people. The collaboration with StreetDoctors underscores our commitment to proactive safety measures and community empowerment.

Continued Partnership: We are pleased to announce that StreetDoctors has agreed to continue delivering first aid courses to our volunteers on an ongoing basis. This partnership ensures that our team remains well-trained and prepared to handle any emergency situation that may arise.

The Croydon School-Time Patrol is grateful for the invaluable training provided by StreetDoctors. With our volunteers now equipped with life-saving first aid skills, we are better positioned to fulfill our mission of creating a safer and more resilient community.
