Our on-street community patrols, serve as the initial responders to uphold community safety. Collaborating with local security teams, we have established a robust community patrol capability.
In Croydon, this initiative is delivered in partnership with Man-in-Action, bringing decades of community work experience and a proven track record in engaging and mediating with youth at risk and gangs. We have forged partnerships with local Security Groups to reinforce our operations, establish clear protocols, and communicate a well-defined code of conduct

Volunteers undergo an enhanced DBS check within the first 3 months of patrolling.
Our patrol volunteers undergo comprehensive induction training as well as ongoing training in order to ensure they are well prepared for the role
Our volunteers receive specialised training in conflict deescalation techniques, preparing them to effectively manage and diffuse tense situations.
This training provides clear guidance on when to alert local services such as the police or ambulance and ensures the safety of both patrol members and the public. Additionally, volunteers must strictly adhere to our code of conduct.
Safeguarding is a crucial aspect of our patrols, particularly when dealing with vulnerable individuals.
Patrol members undergo in-person training sessions followed by an online course and certification in safeguarding. This comprehensive training ensures that our volunteers are well-prepared to recognise and respond to safeguarding concerns appropriately.
First aid training is a key component of our patrol member’s skill set. We conduct in-depth training annually.
Additionally, our volunteers receive quarterly refresher training to ensure their skills remain up-to-date, covering essential first aid techniques such as stopping a bleed and assessing consciousness.
Our second-line response team delivers vital follow-up services in crisis situations. They develop tailored follow-up plans for each case and sign-post young people and families to the appropriate local services.
Ensuring that incidents are not merely intercepted but are followed up with actionable steps to achieve genuine and lasting resolution for those involved.
Our Safeguarding team is meticulously selected based on their extensive experience with at-risk youth. Collectively, they possess decades of safeguarding experience in inner-city environments.
The Safeguarding function maintains strong connections with local organisations to ensure effective referral of cases to appropriate local services.
Together, we can build a safer, stronger, and more resilient community in Croydon. We thank you for joining us in our mission to make a difference.
