After a period of reflection, regrouping, and planning, Croydon Community Action Guardians (CCAG) are proud to announce the soft relaunch of our community patrols, starting Tuesday 29th April 2025.
This marks an exciting new chapter for CCAG as we begin to rebuild and expand our presence in the community — with fresh leadership, renewed focus, and strengthened partnerships. Our patrols will once again be a visible, supportive presence during school hours, working to deter anti-social behaviour, build trust, and keep our young people safe as they move through the local area.
What’s New?
- New Leadership: Under the direction of Directors Teresa Gimenes and Desna McKenzie, together with a newly appointed Strategic Board we’re entering this new phase with a clear focus and community-first mindset.
- Reorganised Teams: Our patrol teams are being re-established, with refreshed training, updated safeguarding procedures, and stronger support structures in place.
- National Lottery Funding: With generous funding from The National Lottery Community Fund, we now have resources to grow our impact in a sustainable way.
- Countdown to Full Launch: This soft relaunch is just the beginning. Over the summer, we’ll be running a volunteer drive to expand our team and fully scale up in time for a full patrol launch in September.
Why It Matters
CCAG was founded on the belief that the community can — and should — play a meaningful role in keeping its young people safe. Our patrols are made up of trained, committed volunteers who walk the routes near local schools during critical hours, offering a visible deterrent, a helping hand, and a reassuring presence.
We’re here to work with the community — not in place of anyone — but to fill the gaps, ease the tensions, and show our young people that someone is watching out for them.
